high flying poetry

i'm jet lagging badly, and coincidentally in time for the liverpool-chelsea match.. dun wanna post too much on the trip cause i wanna watch the match haha, so here's something i wrote on my flight back from SF.

Touch.
The desire for contact
to know, you are with me
even if it's merely a gentle brush,
like the feeling you get, of a glass slipping through your fingers.
And as the contact disappears,
our tiny world ceases to exit,
as does the glass which proceeds to shatter.
And you fade into the distance, once again.

daryl has left

Daryl will be leaving in a matter of 15 minutes for Cambridge where he will eat 3 meals a day.

Byebye daryl. Don't grow too fat.

Haha dave! Tell us about your adventures at CALI!

Here is an story which you would, hopefully, find rather amusing:

Last monday, a new boy was posted into my office. His name is Shunwei and he is slightly plump, small eyes, recruit-blur hair.

He was called into the office for the arbitrary interview with MAJ Elaine Goh, from which he emerged with a look of distress on his face. Upon brief questioning, he revealed the source of his dissatisfaction, which is incidentally very quoteworthy:

"MAJ Elaine say I got attitude. She say I'm fat, so it means I eat a lot, so it means I eat a lot, so I got attitude. I was like, HUH??"

In the briefest of moments, a sulky, crestfallen countenance ignited with flames of indignation only to be quenched by our unceasing peals of laughter.

As such is the irrational state of mind of my boss.

looking on from the other side of the planet

strangely enough there has been such difficulty laying my hands on a computer. everyone uses a laptops, and laptops being portable.. well, they just aren't around to use most of the time.

justin: upon visiting penn, i just fell in love with it. so when i went back to check out Columbia and visit jia-yan i decided to just change my early d from Columbia to Penn. i really dunno how to describe the rationality of my decision. it's just that i felt at home? it's crazy. it's like how you fall in love with someone, and i fell in love with Penn. really hope that i can make it there. (but yeah i'm applying to Fu's engine for engineering management systems. still thinking how i'm gonna maximise my chances of entering Penn though..)

and in all honesty, i think we should all try our best to find a way to go overseas to study. i just cannot fully emphasize the education you receive about living and growing up. i have stayed in college student like conditions for these past 10 days, and there is just so much you have to do on your own, experiences which i don't think we'll fully comprehend if we remain in singapore. so daryl and mun you two are really lucky. i presume that oxbridge offers the same gruelling experiences that the US ppl face.

i cannot stop thinking how lucky i am to have gone on this trip. upon seeing the sights that america has to offer, my inner soul has somehow risen above the bright city lights to show me what my real journey is. conversations with gangwei and long hours of flying alone have made me look at life less objectively. to stop worrying about the image i portray, and just live. just enjoy. too often have i worried about accomplishing this and that and whether i might die young and stuff.

and it's only when you are overseas that you really miss all the stuff back in singapore. and also, i realise that army has also made me look at life more.. casually? like i have increased tolerance to the shitty things that come my way? i dunno. i feel like i've learnt to live better while holidaying. no doubt there has been the fun aspects and all the childish nonsense, but somehow behind it all i can feel that i'm ready to finally step out of teenhood and enter the adult world.
and i have seen and tasted this world over and over again.

anyway, so much for the self-discovery rambling. i will post a travel log soon and photos as well. for the moment me and gangwei have a combined total of 2gigs of pictures. so this is gonna be quite a mammoth task.

so glad that you guys are posting at last haha. i'm in berkeley now. no prizes for guessing my thoughts at this very moment.. bleh.

irrationality

I am incredibly indecisive. I can completely convince myself about something on a certain occasion only to realise, sometime later, that I can be thoroughly convinced of the converse as well. Everything around me - from day-to-day activities, conversations, moods, weather, time of the day - contributes to a frustrating irrationality that impedes decision making. After brief consideration, I realise that all the fault lies with my mind, who chooses to think in the weirdest of ways (and who decides, at this point in time, to scold itself).

Maybe that is why I should follow my heart.

But, knowing that I can never be sure, maybe I just shouldn't think so much!

Someday these will be famous 1

Click.
On the Mouse
the Raindrops fall tap-tap-tap
the scribbles run before my eyes,
Twirl whirl swirl.
But still I click on the mellow
Melancholy-
A flash of golden brilliance?
But there is nothing.
Only
A hideous laugh.

SAT SAT SAT BU SHI PIAN QIAN MAN

I applied for my SAT1 and SAT2 today! bu shi pian wo de qian man...and i applied to columbia... another pian qian... haha. Hey dave!! did u apply to FU's SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING?
today, my CPT who studying psychology in melbourne taught me that beside your hypothalamus, there is a part called the subthalamus. This part controls sleep and sexual orientation. AND he says that studies have statistically shown that the subthalamus of a gay is bigger than a straight man. also...he says that gays are more likely to be nocturnal creatures, also due to this! so he believes that being gay is determined by nature and that society should accept them.

words of wisdom

come. have some shuai quotes and FLAMING MAO TAIS. i still think it's mai tai. I is just next to O so it has to be a typo but to keep it authentic it's MAO TAI.
and just for rubbish trivia. U and I are next to each other.
then there's Y which is next to U.
so Y are U next to I? (ok abit wrong gramatically).
just had duty i'm cranky.

ok so here's the true words of wisdom.
